The Summer Palace, a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty of China, formerly known as the Garden of Clear Ripples, is located in the western suburbs of Beijing, 15 kilometers from the city, covering an area of about 290 hectares, adjacent to the Yuanmingyuan.
