The current situation of the epidemic in Hong Kong is relatively serious, and the main dilemmas faced are as follows:
Limited manpower for nucleic acid testingThe Hong Kong SAR government is currently arranging for high-risk workers, including bus drivers, cab drivers, food service workers and security guards who have high contact with the population during their working hours, to undergo nucleic acid testing. As the number of people is very large, the results of the nucleic acid tests will take several working days before the results are available. No notification will be made if the test result is negative, whereas arrangements will be made for quarantine and screening of close contacts if the test result is positive. During this waiting period, the persons concerned will still carry out their work activities, and it is difficult to ensure that persons at risk will not transmit the virus unconsciously. Therefore, assistance from mainland testing personnel is needed to improve the efficiency of nucleic acid testing, isolate relevant sick persons in a timely manner, and curb the spread of the virus.
Medical resources nearing saturationHong Kong SAR is a densely populated region with a small population, and hospital beds are nearing saturation as the number of confirmed cases continues to grow. There are still a lot of confirmed cases of CKP among visitors to Hong Kong, and the number of locally infected cases is also over 100 per day. This poses a huge challenge to the overall allocation of medical resources and the arrangement of healthcare personnel. Therefore, the SAR Government has applied to the Mainland for volunteers, and the Mainland will arrange for relevant people from Wuhan who are involved in the construction of square pod hospitals to come to Hong Kong to build square pod hospitals, provide advice on hospital construction and management, and share their experience, so as to ease the pressure on the hospitals in the SAR, and to transfer patients whose conditions are more stabilized to square pod hospitals to receive treatment.
Source of infection unknown in multiple casesAt present, the daily new cases in Hong Kong are all locally infected cases, including cluster infections in multiple residential care homes for the elderly, cluster infections in restaurants, and persons of concern previously exempted from testing. Meanwhile, clusters of cases in some districts have not been clearly investigated as to the source of the infection. The Hong Kong Hospital Authority has also confirmed that there has been community transmission of the new Crown Pneumonia outbreak in Hong Kong.
The previous repair fiasco and the impact of the current C.P.S. outbreak have hit Hong Kong's economy hard. The people of Hong Kong are also in a state of panic. On the one hand, basic livelihood protection is already at stake, and on the other hand, there is a threat to personal health. It is hoped that the Mainland's assistance can help Hong Kong get out of the epidemic as soon as possible and control the source of the virus.
