What is the semiconductor industry?

The semiconductor industry belongs to the electronic information industry which belongs to the hardware industry, and is based on semiconductors.

Semiconductors are used in integrated circuits, consumer electronics, communication systems, photovoltaic power generation, lighting, high-power power conversion and other fields, such as diodes are devices made using semiconductors.

Whether from the point of view of science and technology or economic development, the importance of semiconductors is very great. Most of the electronic products, such as computers, cell phones or digital recorders in the core unit and semiconductor has a very close relationship.

Common semiconductor materials are silicon, germanium, gallium arsenide, etc., silicon is a variety of semiconductor materials used in the most influential one.

History of development in China

China's electronic information industry appeared in the twenties of the 20th century. 1929 October, the Chinese Nationalist government military department in Nanjing to establish the "Telecommunications Machinery Repair Factory", the main production of military radio transceivers. In October 1929, the Ministry of Military Affairs of the Chinese Nationalist Government established the "General Factory of Telecommunication Machinery Repair and Construction" in Nanjing, mainly producing military radio transceivers, and later set up the "Central Radio Equipment Company Limited" and "Nanjing Radar Research Institute". After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the government attached great importance to the development of the electronics industry.

Initially, the People's Revolutionary Military Committee of the Central People's Government set up the General Administration of Telecommunications, took over the bureaucratic capital left behind 11 radio enterprises, and with the original revolutionary base area of radio equipment repair factory, resumed production.

In October 1950, the Chinese State Council decided to set up the Telecommunications Industry Bureau in the Ministry of Heavy Industry. 1963, the Chinese state decided to set up the Fourth Ministry of Machinery Industry, exclusive to China's defense industry sequence. This marked the beginning of China's electronic information industry as an independent industrial sector.
