Spiral Zone From 1987 Presented by Atlantic-Kushner-Locke/The Maltese Companies/Orbis Communications Country USA Total 65 episodes Genre Cartoon Synopsis Maybe it's because of the darker feel of the movie, or because it was short back then. Maybe it's because this movie has a darker feel to it, or because it aired for such a short time back then that most viewers don't remember Spiral Zone very well. Before anthrax was a front-page headline and the fear that KB elements might use biochemical weapons to carry out a KB attack, there was, in fact, an animated movie about it all back in the 80s. Our worst-case scenarios of the KB threat came to life in "Spiral Zone." In the foreseeable future, an evil organization called the Black Widow unleashes a contagious disease across the globe that can control the minds of humans. The biological agent has spread in a global spiral that has covered nearly half the planet. The infected areas are labeled as spiral zones, and the infected humans are called "zoners" and are mindless slaves under the control of the Black Widow. In order to combat the Black Widow, an elite international fighting force known as the Strip Riders was created, comprised of the nations of the free world. The Strip Knights are selected from the special forces of the world's militaries. Relying on specially designed armor to protect them from bacterial infection, the mission of the Strip Riders is to save the world from the Black Widows and their evil forces.
