Snow Dragon details

The polar scientific research vessel "Snow Dragon" was completed by the Kherson Shipyard in Ukraine in March 1993, and underwent a second large-scale modification by the Shanghai Hudong Shipyard in 1995. The "Snow Dragon" ship has advanced navigation, positioning, and automatic driving systems, is equipped with an advanced GMDSS communication system, and complete medical facilities and living and entertainment facilities. The ship is equipped with a series of scientific investigation laboratories such as atmosphere, hydrology, biology, computer data processing center, meteorological analysis and forecast center, etc., and is equipped with MK-3/WOCE-CTD and water collector, 75KHZ ADCP and fish finder, etc. Scientific investigation instruments, in addition, the ship is also equipped with A-frame, CTD winch, 3000-meter hydrographic winch and two 6000-meter geological winches, enabling it to undertake multi-disciplinary comprehensive marine surveys. The ship was originally designed as a multi-purpose transport ship in the Arctic region and has strong ice-breaking capabilities. It can continuously break through 1.2-meter-thick ice at a speed of 0.5 knots. The ship is equipped with an adjustable propeller, which allows flexible operation during sailing and is conducive to ice breaking. The hull made of E-grade steel plates will not degenerate even in severe cold weather conditions of minus 40 degrees Celsius. There are marine physics, marine chemistry, biology, meteorology and clean laboratories on the ship, covering an area of ??200 square meters. It is also equipped with internationally advanced ocean survey instruments and equipment such as CTD automatic water collection system (measuring seawater temperature, depth, and salinity), ADCP (profile current meter), high-resolution satellite cloud image system, EK5O0 scientific sonar system, etc., and a newly built hydrological The data collection room is equipped with a fish finder that can be used to search for krill and other polar aquatic animals; a Doppler current meter that can measure the speed and direction of seawater flow while sailing; in addition, a new atmospheric sampling room and data collection room are installed. Scientific research facilities such as processing center, sample room, telescopic crane, etc. Two sets of automatic collision avoidance radars with the advanced level of the 1990s are installed in the cab. When a ship comes from the opposite side or an iceberg appears, it can promptly measure the opponent's course, speed, etc., and provide prompts on how to avoid it correctly. The meteorological center set up on the ship can receive polar satellite cloud images and other meteorological data in a timely manner, providing safety guarantee for the ship when sailing in the polar seas with extremely harsh and unpredictable climate. Marine aviation technical equipment can accommodate two KA-32 helicopters. The landing platform is arranged on the center line of the poop deck. The helicopters can take off, land and park day and night. The navigation radar station equipped on the ship can monitor take-off aircraft to ensure flight safety. In addition, swimming pools, gyms, libraries, karaoke rooms, medical rooms, operating rooms, laboratories and other cultural, sports and health facilities are all available, providing a suitable living and working environment for ship passengers. After modification, the number of people the ship can carry has been increased from the 55 people designed in the past to 78 people, and now it has been increased to 130 people.
