Mask "crisis"

The dust-free workshop of SAIC-GM-Wuling was also bustling with activity, and on February 13th, the first batch of masks produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling was shipped out in bulk. It took only three days from the time the idea was put forward to the first batch of masks coming off the line.

In Shenzhen's Baolong factory, BYD's electronics business group, Department IX, has been temporarily mobilized to produce masks, which can be shipped on Feb. 17 at the earliest.

In the face of the severe challenge of the situation of shortage of anti-epidemic materials, many enterprises have switched to production or part-time production of masks, protective clothing, disinfectant solution has become a shortage of materials. On February 6, SAIC-GM-Wuling announced that it had joined forces with its acoustic cotton supplier Guangxi DeFuTechnology Co. Li Yunfei, deputy general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co., Ltd, said in an interview with People's Daily Online that among the four major processes of automobile production: stamping, welding, painting and assembly, the painting workshop has a high standard of dust-free. And in the medical mask production process, the production environment has more special requirements, the need for constant temperature and humidity, can not let the dust and other small debris pollution mask. Therefore, compared with other enterprises, automotive companies in the cross-border production of masks have a great advantage.

Accounting for one-half of the national capacity

BYD's internal staff told Euromobile that the company is actively preparing for the approval of the certification, and the government has also opened a "green channel" for the shortage of materials. BYD has a professional equipment research and development and technical team, and has a long-term cooperation and stability of the upstream raw material resources,? From the raw materials, production technology preparation has a great advantage, the product will also be in strict accordance with the current national standards to produce.

Car companies can successfully "cross-border" production of masks, thanks to the local government's "green channel". It is reported that the mask is a medical device category, inspection and testing accreditation certificate issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision, according to the accreditation process, from the application, acceptance to approval of the certificate, it takes nearly three months.

"With the help of the government, the 43 days required for the normal process has been shortened to less than 20 days, and it is expected that all the required procedures can be handled by March." SAIC Wuling told Euromobile that in terms of staffing, in addition to SAIC Wuling's support staff, it will supplement its staff through social recruitment.

Where have all the masks gone?

While the people need masks, car-branded masks aren't always available.
