Development Background
Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. originated as an automobile project of the Wuhu municipal government in Anhui Province. The local government of Wuhu has been trying to do automobile projects for a long time. In the 1992-1993 economic overheating period, Wuhu, a village-run factories in the annual profits of nearly 100 million makes the economic backwardness of the local government leaders to do the idea of automobile. The original plan was to work with FAW, but that didn't work out.
