Tongji University was formerly the German Medical College founded by German doctor paulun erich in 1907. The following year, it was renamed Tongji Devon yiguang; 19 12 merged with the newly established Tongji Devon Medical College and changed its name to Tongji Devon Medical College; Tongji University was officially named1923; 1927 National Tongji University, one of the seven earliest national universities in China.

1893, Dr. Erics Paulum erich, a German doctor, came to Shanghai to work in Germany. There is a clinic near the consulate. When Eight-Nation Alliance invaded China, Germany shipped a lot of medical equipment and hired Dr. Baolong, who was quite famous in Shanghai at that time, to help set up the wounded hospital in Shanghai. After the Germans returned to China, they gave all the medical equipment of the wounded hospital to Baolong to express their gratitude.
