Not Longyan Prison, but Minxi Prison is located in Longyan City Center, north of the city's Qingcao Yu Basin.
Minxi Prison was founded in 1955, formerly known as the first prison in Fujian Province.
The prison was renamed Fujian Provincial Minxi Prison in 1994, and as of August 2019, it is a provincial-level civilized prison with the largest inmate population and the largest number of cadres in Fujian Province.
