The treatment of this type of disease is not an overnight event, and should be continued for at least 2-3 months until the retesting for helminth mites is negative. Patients with combined helminthic mite skin lesions need to be treated for skin lesions at the same time.
Damage to the eyes by helminth mites
1 Worm mites can phagocytose the epithelial cells of the hair follicle, causing follicle dilatation and hair loss, which manifests itself clinically as deflagration, disorganized eyelashes, redness and itchiness at the edge of the eyes, allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis, lid margin conjunctivitis, and even keratoconjunctivitis in severe cases.
2 Worm mites can also phagocytose lipids and cause dry eye.
3 In addition, helminth mites can cause obstruction of the blepharoplakic ducts through mechanical obstruction, which can lead to chalazion formation by causing difficulty in lipid drainage and excessive secretion retention.
