What does a real mental hospital look like?

There are both open and closed wards. Some of the comments and other answers mention this as well. Years ago I stayed in an open ward in the psychiatric department of a tertiary care hospital.

Pills were handed out every night, in small clear cups. There were only pills, not knowing their names or what they did. I'm going to watch you eat them before I go, the doctor said.

The first time was very good, sent to eat tamely. After eating it lie down on the bed and watch the theater version of Conan.

Saw halfway through and started to get dizzy and unconscious. So decided to wash up early and go to bed. In the shower room a few times want to pass out, and easily managed to hold on and move back to the hospital room.

The next day was a long day. I saw English engravings on the pills and secretly wrote them down. I remember one of them was stilnox. smartphones weren't so popular back then, so I texted my classmates to help me find out what the word meant.

Since then, I've been talking to my doctor about taking the pills at bedtime.

Someone upstairs sang the national anthem in the middle of the night. It was staccato, emotional, and very punctual. Night after night, never interrupted.

One day it suddenly stopped.

There were several patients in the same ward. At first it was a peasant sister, in her early thirties. She looked normal. The mother was also very simple.

On one occasion I lost control and cried all afternoon. For about four or five hours, three men couldn't hold it down. She brought a roll of paper over and wiped my tears.

A brand new roll of paper, oh, was used by me clean. I remember she laughed nervously and said to me, "Don't cry, look at the roll of paper you've used up."

After I mentioned depression in one of my replies, a user commented that her family was in the countryside and her relatives were also depressed, which was more difficult than in the city. I guess that's the case with the farmer's mother and daughter.

Leaving:

When leaving the hospital, the gatekeeper said, "Go away, go as far away as possible, don't come here again, and if you meet us in the future, pretend you don't know us and don't talk to us.
