Because Shen Congwen is a Phoenix man, so many people think that Biancheng is Phoenix, Hunan Province, but in fact it is not. Look at the first sentence of "Border Town": "From Sichuan to Hunan, there is an official road to the east, which is close to the western border of Hunan, to a place called Chadong small mountain town will have a stream ------ ", it is clear that Shen wrote "Border Town" is called Chadong! The name of the "border town" written by Shen Congwen is Chadong. If you look at a map of western Hunan (or a map of China), you will find that there is no such place as "Chadong" in the whole of Fenghuang County. When you shift your sight to Huayuan County in the north of Phoenix County, at the junction of Hunan, Sichuan (now Chongqing) and Guizhou, you will find "Border City" here. In other words, the original "Biancheng" was the town of Chadong in Huayuan County, Hunan Province, but now (2008) the town has been renamed "Biancheng Town", and is still labeled "Chadong" on previously published maps. "
"Border Town" is an independent original documentary filmed and produced by undergraduates from the Department of Drama, Film and Television Literature in the College of Arts and Letters at Southwest University, and directed by Chen Yiyan (Chen Yuzhou), who was a junior at the time.
The film was shot during the Spring Festival of 2013. After spending a month with the homeless, the creators learned about the real life conditions of the homeless, restored the existence of the homeless as "human beings", and used the camera to reflect the reasons for the formation of the homeless community in a discerning manner. Director Chen Yiyan hopes that through this movie, more people can understand the real life of the homeless living in the bottom of the society.
This documentary, which is full of humanistic concern, was selected from more than 2000 entries." The movie makes the viewers think about human nature, good and evil, life demands, social welfare system and other issues in a dialectical way, in addition to being moved by the helplessness and helplessness of the people." The organizing committee of the contest gave this assessment at the award ceremony.
The film won the Best Documentary Feature in the Original Film Competition of the 20th Beijing University Film Festival, the Best Cinematography Award in the Documentary Unit, the Special Jury Prize at the 11th Beijing International Student Film and Video Festival, and the Nomination Prize for the Best College Student Work at the 3rd China Academy of Documentary Film Awards.
