By 2019, "Emergency Help" will have been on the air for 11 years and a***ed for three seasons. In addition to commemorating the show's 10th anniversary, the theatrical version was also seen as the end of the series as a whole, as the five main characters had evolved in different ways within the show and it was difficult to gather all these popular actors for another sequel outside of the show. The movie opens with a flashback of clips from the first 3 seasons of the TV series, which serves as a forward synopsis and gives those who haven't watched the series an idea of the background of the story. Of course, fans may have been unable to hold back their tears at the sight of these clips, full of memories!
The English title of "Emergency Help" is "Code Blue," which is an emergency code for U.S. legislators. Once this code is heard on the radio, the nearest doctors and nurses must set out with medical equipment to rescue them. Instead of ambulances, they use helicopters to get to the scene as fast as possible. Only doctors who are mentally and technically competent can board the helicopter, and this drama is about the coming-of-age story of a group of flying doctors. The five main characters in it study together at an emergency center, and their journey from intern to attending physician resembles what we go through in the workplace. Among them are Kosaku Ranzawa, who specializes in neurosurgery and is leaving EMS to do medical research in Toronto in the third season; Megumi Shiraishi, who becomes an EMS team leader; Mifuneko Himayama, who goes to work in obstetrics and gynecology; Yao Saejima, who becomes the first flight nurse at EMS; and Kazuo Fujikawa, who becomes an attending physician.
The problems with "Emergency Help" as a movie are still quite obvious: the correlation between the major accidents is very low, and the writer-director's attempts to discuss topics such as love, family, and friendship around life and death in a two-hour period leads to an imbalance in the content's primary and secondary aspects, and a style of storytelling that's more akin to that of a TV series. However, for fans who have grown up with the show, watching scenes such as Himyama recognizing Shiraishi as her best friend, Fujikawa finally marrying Saekima, and the lonely Ranzawa treating the gang of decade-long comrades like family is enough to move them to tears.
From the episode, we already know that "flight doctor" is a challenging profession, and in the face of constant death, everyone has been afraid, afraid, and because of each other's companionship, they have the courage and motivation to persevere along the way. Finally, the "CB Five" took a photo in front of the medical helicopter, which is also a successful conclusion to the 10-year drama. How many decades can there be in life? For those who follow the drama, it's not as simple as a movie.
