Polycarbonate (PC for short) is a polymer containing carbonate groups in the molecular chain, and can be divided into aliphatic, aromatic, aliphatic-aromatic and other types according to the structure of the ester group.
The three major applications of PC engineering plastics are glass assembly industry, automotive industry and electronics, electrical industry, followed by industrial machinery parts, CD-ROMs, packaging, computers and other office equipment, medical and health care, film, leisure and protective equipment, etc. PC can be used as door and window glazing, PC laminate is widely used in banks, embassies, detention centers, and public **** place of protection windows, for aircraft hatch covers, lighting equipment, industrial safety baffles and bulletproof glass.
Main advantages: high strength and coefficient of elasticity, high impact strength, wide range of operating temperatures; high transparency and free coloring; low molding shrinkage, good dimensional stability; good fatigue resistance; good weathering resistance; excellent electrical characteristics.
Disadvantages: high viscosity of the melt, poor fluidity, molding and processing difficulties; not resistant to chlorine, alkali, amine, ketone and other media, easily soluble in dichloromethane, dichloroethane and other chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents.
Extended information
Polycarbonate in the molding of products before the raw materials should be dried in the 120 ~ 130 ℃ in the hot air circulation oven for about 10h, so that the raw materials of the water content of less than 0.03%.
After drying treatment of raw materials, can be used in extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and vacuum forming methods. Molding plastic various plates, tubes, containers and films and other products.
Polycarbonate molding process, the barrel of the charging section of the temperature of about 230 ℃, plasticizing section temperature of about 250 ℃, homogenizing section temperature of about 270 ℃, the injection pressure in the range of 40 ~ 120MPa, mold temperature of about 100 ℃. In order to eliminate the internal stress of the parts, the products should be heat-treated at a temperature of about 120℃ after molding. Oil bath method can be used, or heat treatment in the oven.
