Sandostatin (octreotide acetate injection) is indicated for acromegaly. Octreotide can control the symptoms and reduce the levels of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 in patients who have failed in surgery or radiotherapy, or who are unable or unwilling to undergo surgery or radiotherapy. -Relieve symptoms and signs related to functional gastrointestinal pancreatic endocrine tumors. There is sufficient evidence that this product is effective for the following tumors:-carcinoid with carcinoid syndrome -VIP tumor-glucagon tumor. The effective rate of this product for the following tumors is about 50% (limited cases have been treated at present):-gastrinoma/Zolinger-Ellison syndrome (usually combined with proton pump inhibitors or H2 receptor blockers)-insulinoma (preventing hypoglycemia before operation and maintaining normal blood sugar)-growth hormone releasing factor tumor octreotide can only relieve symptoms and signs, but can't cure the cause-preventing complications after pancreatic surgery-emergency treatment of esophageal and gastric varices caused by cirrhosis with special means such as endoscopic sclerosing agent.
