Training of Hong Kong Police Stormtroopers

The Police Oriented Tactical Emergency Medicine Course (POTEM) has been officially taught since November 2006. It was designed by three medical consultants from the Hong Kong Police College. They are from the hospital Dr. Chan Tak-sing, Co-ordinator of the Emergency Department of the New Territories East Hospital Cluster of the Authority and Head of the Emergency Department of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital; Dr. Chow Yuk-yin, Head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Group of the New Territories West Cluster; and the Department of Surgery of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. and Professor Guo Haoqi of the Emergency Medicine Teaching Unit. It is a professional tactical first aid training course, divided into three levels - elementary, basic and advanced training, which is used to specially train and train police officers of some Hong Kong Police Force departments. After receiving training, you will become a police medic (English: Police Medic), providing emergency medical services to the injured in tactical environments, emergencies, or disaster scenes, to avoid possible delays in rescue and emergency medical teams due to environment, time, and ability. This hinders the ability to go to the scene to take care of the injured immediately, delaying treatment.

Stormtroopers are required to undergo a two-day initial training course, which covers injuries encountered during daily police operations, including trauma caused by emergency medical group fights, explosions or falls from heights. Since most of the Hong Kong Island region is covered with rolling mountains and dense jungles, basic mountain art training is implemented. The instructors and assistant instructors are those who have the qualification of mountain art leaders of the Police Adventure Club. The training content includes Practical use of compass, map reading and related knowledge, practical use of various hiking equipment, route planning and safety instructions in mountainous countryside, etc. Upon completion of the course, officers will be awarded a basic mountaineering certificate issued by the Police Adventure Club.
