Open the printer menu. Right-click on the name of the printer you need to clean. It's located at the bottom of the page under the "Printers" heading. A drop-down menu opens.
If the mouse does not have a right-click button, click on the right side of the mouse, or click the mouse with two fingers.
If your computer only has a trackpad, use two fingers to click on the trackpad, or press the lower right corner of the trackpad.
6/9
Click Properties. It is located at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A new window then appears.
7/9
Click on the Hardware or Maintenance tab. It is located at the top of the window.
Some printers have self-cleaning options located in the More Options or Tools tab.
8/9
Click the Clean option. This option is usually called Clean Printheads or Clean Ink Cartridges, and can be found on this page with the word "Clean" in it.
If you can't find the option to clean the printheads (or "nozzles" or "cartridges"), check your printer's user manual or online documentation. This can also happen because the printer does not have a self-cleaning feature.
9/9
Follow the on-screen prompts. If you are prompted to click certain options during the cleanup process, follow the prompts. Otherwise, the printer cleans itself after printing the document.
You can confirm that you cleaned the printer well by printing a test page after the cleanup.
If the print results are still unsatisfactory, you will need to manually clean the printheads to fix the problem.
