Recommended Switzerland's HYT watches, founded in 2010, is an emerging niche watch brand in Switzerland.
Traditionally, mechanical watches and liquids are incompatible. Until 2012, HYT broke with the new science and technology and invented a watch with a patented fluid module. The colored liquid records the immediate past; the transparent liquid indicates the visible future; and the half-moon shaped area where they meet represents the present. This display of time by means of the flow of liquids is known as fluid timekeeping. The history of fluid timekeeping began 3,400 years ago with the Pharaohs' funnels (also known as water clocks). These so-called "water thieves" transported water from one container to another to measure elapsed or "stolen" time. This method of visualizing meaningful time transitions seemed to have disappeared for a long time, until HYT came along and resurrected it.
Focusing on high-tech technology and continuous improvement, HYT watches have won numerous awards at world fairs in just a few years. Today, HYT is an ecosystem that combines science, high technology, philosophy, art and design.
The quality of HYT watches is unquestionable.
HYT was conceived and realized over a period of several years in order to achieve the ultimate "oil circuit" of the watch and the precision with which the liquid reaches the full stop. In order to find a dye that is both visible and aesthetically pleasing, durable and UV-resistant to represent the passage of time, HYT set up its own laboratory to develop the dye in-house, which is also characterized by "luminescence". The complexity of the parts involved is too great to list here, except to mention two: the springs used to pressurize the flow of liquid in the movement are the same as those used in spacecraft to monitor speed, and come from a NASA supplier in Philadelphia, USA. The fluid module technology used in the watch is patented and took 15 years to develop, with much of the inspiration coming from the aerospace, medical device and semiconductor sectors.
The HYT is very unique.
To this day, HYT is the only watch brand to indicate the time with a liquid. Because of the complexity of the technology, the annual production of HYT watches is very limited. The HYT H2 Tradition, for example, is limited to 50 pieces; the HYT Skull Green Eye and the HYT Skull Bad Boy are also limited to 50 pieces each. It is this limited nature of not being able to mass produce that makes HYT watches a craft and highly collectible.
