What are the types and characteristics of compressors?

1. Classification according to compression principle

According to the working principle of compressor, compressor can be divided into the following types:

(1) positive displacement compressor: compresses gas according to the change of volume, including reciprocating compressor and rotary compressor.

(2) Power compressor: it compresses gas by accelerating its movement, including centrifugal compressor, axial compressor and stirring compressor.

2. Classification by compressed media

Compressors can be divided into gas compressors and liquid compressors according to the types of compressed media. Commonly used gas compressors include air compressor, oxygen compressor, ammonia compressor and nitrogen compressor. Commonly used liquid compressors are water pumps and oil pumps.

3. Classification by mechanical structure

According to the different mechanical structures, compressors can be divided into the following categories:

(1) Reciprocating compressor: It is composed of cylinder, piston, valve, connecting rod and other components, and reciprocating motion completes gas compression.

(2) Rotary compressor: It is composed of rotor, stator, valve train and other parts, and compresses gas through the rotation of the rotor.

(3) Centrifugal compressor: composed of rotor, shell, guide vanes, inlet and outlet, etc. It uses the action of rotating rotor and guide vanes to compress gas.

(4) Axial compressor: It is composed of rotor, inner shell, blades and other parts, and continuously compresses gas along the axial direction.

(5) Screw compressor: It is composed of two mutually meshed spiral gears. Gas enters along the air inlet of the spiral gears and is discharged from the air outlet after being compressed.
