The origin of Shizuishan

Shizuishan also has a name called "Shizuishan", which comes from a folklore and is based on a vivid interpretation of the terrain of Shizuishan. The historical records of Shizuizi can be traced back to the first year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1723). In order to facilitate the trade between Mongolia and China, the Qing government decided to "move the market to Shizuizi".

Around the fourth year of Yongzheng (1726), with the excavation of the Huinong Canal, the increasing development of ethnic trade and the setting of the "market entrance", the population of Shizuishan area gradually increased, forming a settlement, and the mountain name was borrowed as a place name and passed down to this day.

1March 1960, Shizuishan City was established;1February 1972, Yinbei District was established, and Shizuishan was stationed in the city. 10, 1975, 1 1, Yin Bei area was cancelled, and municipal authorities moved to Dawukou. At the same time, the name of Shizuishan moved with the municipal government.

The word "mouth" in Shizuishan was not standardized for some time, and many people remembered the writing of "Shizuishan". Historical records in Ming and Qing Dynasties were all written as "Kou", and the combination of "Kou" and "Kou" first appeared in Shuofang Daozhi in the Republic of China. After liberation, three batches of simplified Chinese characters published by the State Council did not simplify the word "kou".

1959 used the nonstandard writing of "Shizuishan" when reporting the establishment of Shizuishan city in Ningxia in the State Council, and 1960 adopted "Shizuishan" as the city name when deciding to set up a city in the State Council, so there was a phenomenon that "Shizuishan" and "Shizuishan" were used together in newspapers and other documents.

Until 198 1, Shizuishan Geographical Names Committee officially designated "Shizuishan" as the standard writing method of city names according to the historical origin of city names and with the consent of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Geographical Names Committee.
