The First Hospital of Peking University (Peking University Hospital), located in the old Imperial City of Beijing, is the closest hospital to Zhongnanhai, a large-scale, comprehensive, third-class A-class hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and prevention, and a central health care base hospital. Founded in 1915, Peking University Hospital is the earliest national hospital founded in China and one of the first clinical medical schools established in China. Over the past hundred years, Peking University Hospital No. 1 has a number of domestic first professional disciplines as well as diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that were first carried out in China, such as the first pediatrics (1940), urology (1946), nephrology (1950), cardiovascular ward of the general hospital (1950s), pediatric neurology (1950s), and so on.
