This standard describes the classification system of protection grade of electrical equipment shell. Proposed by the European Committee for Standardization of Electronic Technology, the protection level of electrical equipment housings can be divided into many categories, and the protection level of products can be determined quickly and conveniently according to different numbers.

The first number

0 is not protected.

1 prevent the tip of solid particles with a diameter of more than 50mm or the solid particles with a diameter of 50mm from penetrating completely.

2 Prevent the tip of solid particles with a diameter of 12.5mm or even larger or the solid particles with a diameter of 12.5mm from penetrating completely.

3 prevent the tip of solid particles with a diameter of more than 2.5mm or the solid particles with a diameter of 2.5mm from penetrating completely.

4. Prevent the tip of solid particles with a diameter of 1mm or even larger or the solid particles with a diameter of 1mm from penetrating completely.

5 dustproof: dust can not be completely prevented from entering, but it will not hinder the normal work of the instrument and reduce the safety.

6 dust confinement: dust cannot enter the whole diameter of the object and cannot exceed the gap of the shell.

The second digit

0 is not protected.

1 Water drops falling vertically will not cause harmful effects.

When the shell is tilted to15, the vertically falling water drops will not cause harmful effects at any angle when the shell is tilted to15.

Waterproof fog spraying on any vertical side at any angle not exceeding 60 will not cause harmful effects.

4 splashing water will not cause harmful effects on the shell from any direction.

5 spraying water to prevent spraying water from any direction will not cause harmful effects on the shell.

Anti-strong water spraying will not have harmful effects on the shell from any direction.

7. Prevent short-time immersion at normal temperature and pressure. When the shell is temporarily immersed in water with a depth of 1M, it will not cause harmful effects.

8 Preventing continuous immersion in water is agreed by both the manufacturer and the user, but under the harsh conditions compared with 7, continuous immersion in water will not cause harmful effects.
