Israel's climate

Israel's climate is mainly Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. There are only two distinct seasons in a year: a dry summer from April to October and a rainy winter from November to March. Precipitation is very unevenly distributed, with relatively high rainfall in the north and center of the country, with 920 millimeters per year in the north, and a very low 30 millimeters per year in the southern Negev.

Israel's Mediterranean coast is a narrow plain, the north-central winding mountains and highlands, the southern Negev Desert, the eastern part of the north-south Jordan Valley and the Arava Valley. The seaside plains of varying sizes between the highlands and the Mediterranean Sea are fertile and are Israel's main agricultural area.
