1. Traditional activated sludge method
Traditional activated sludge treatment method is one of the oldest industrial wastewater treatment process, the key components of its industrial wastewater treatment for the biogas tank and sedimentation tank, the main treatment part of the relationship between the block diagram shown in Figure.
Organic matter in sewage stays in the aeration tank, the microorganisms in the aeration tank adsorb most of the organic matter in the sewage and are oxidized to inorganic matter in the aeration tank, and then some of the activated sludge needs to be returned to the aeration tank after precipitation in the settling tank. The advantages of this process are: high organic matter removal rate, high sludge load, small pool volume, power consumption, low operating costs. The disadvantages of the process are: ordinary aeration tank occupies a lot of land, construction investment, to meet the national standards of the relevant indicators of the range of small, easy to produce sludge expansion phenomenon, phosphorus and nitrogen removal rate is low.

2, A2/O method
A2/O method is also developed on the basis of the traditional activated sludge method of an industrial wastewater treatment process, in which A2, that is, A-A, the first A on behalf of the Anaerobic (anaerobic), the latter A on behalf of the Anoxic (hypoxic); O on behalf of the (aerobic). A2/O is a kind of anaerobic-anoxic treatment process. O is a kind of anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic industrial wastewater treatment process. The phosphorus and nitrogen removal effect of A2O method is very good, and it is very suitable for the industrial wastewater treatment which has the requirement of phosphorus and nitrogen removal. Therefore, A2/O process is generally preferred in urban industrial wastewater treatment plants with special requirements for phosphorus and nitrogen removal. Its process flow diagram is shown in Figure.
