IPxx Dust and Water Resistance Rating Description

Definition of IEC IP Protection Levels

IP stands for Ingress Protection.IEC IP Protection Levels are important for the safety and protection of electrical equipment. IP and other protection level system provides a electrical equipment and packaging dust, water and impact resistance to the degree of classification of products, this system has been recognized by most European countries, the International Electrotechnical Commission (International Electro Technical Commission) drafted, and in the IED529 (BS EN) This system is recognized in most European countries and was drafted by the IEC (International Electro Technical Commission) and declared in IED529 (BS EN 60529:1992) in the IP code for external packaging. The protection class is often expressed as IP followed by two numbers, which are used to specify the level of protection. The first number indicates the extent to which the device is resistant to fine dust, or the degree to which people are protected from hazards in a sealed environment. i represents the level of protection against the ingress of solid foreign bodies, with the highest level being 6. The second number indicates the degree to which the device is waterproof. The second number indicates the degree of waterproofness of the equipment. P stands for the degree of protection against the ingress of water, and the highest level is 8. For example, the degree of protection of electric motors is IP65, the degree of protection is IP55, and so on. 2 Protection against 12.5mm diameter and larger solid foreign bodies Detectors with 12.5mm diameter spheres should not be fully accessible 2 Protection against water droplets when cabinet is tilted at 15 degrees Droplets falling vertically when cabinet is tilted at an angle of 15 degrees to either side should not cause damage 3 Protection against 2.5mm diameter and larger solid foreign bodies Detectors with 2.5mm diameter spheres should not be fully accessible 3 Protection against Splashing water Splashing water at an angle of 60 degrees from either side of a vertical line should not cause damage 4 Protection against 1.0mm diameter and larger solid foreign bodies Detectors with 1.0mm diameter spheres should not be fully accessible 4 Protection against spraying water Spraying water aimed at the cabinet in each direction should not cause damage 5 Protection against dust It is not possible to prevent the entry of dust completely, but it will not enter in such quantities as to cause damage to the equipment 5 Protection against spraying water Jets of water aimed at the cabinet in each direction should not cause damage 5 Protected water jets directed at the cabinet from every direction should not cause damage 6 Dust containment Dust should not enter the cabinet at low pressures of 20 mbar 6 Protected against strong water jets Strong water jets directed at the cabinet from every direction should not cause damage Note: The diameter of the detector should not pass through the holes in the cabinet 7 Protected against short-term immersion When the cabinet is immersed briefly in water at standard pressures, there should not be an amount of immersion capable of causing damage 8 Protected against long-term immersion The cabinet may be immersed in water under certain conditions, but not in quantities capable of causing damage. When the cabinet is immersed in water for a short period of time under standard pressure, there should be no amount of water that can cause damage when the cabinet is immersed in water under certain conditions. Splash-proof type: No harmful effects from water splashing in any direction. 5 Jet-proof type: No harmful effects from water spraying directly in any direction. 6 Water-resistant type: No harmful effects from water spraying directly in any direction. 7 Immersion-proof type: No harmful effects from water spraying directly in any direction. 8 Water-immersed type: It can be used even if it is immersed in water for a long period of time at a certain pressure. 9 Moisture-resistant type: It can be used in the case of moisture at a relative humidity of more than 90%.
