What is period verification?

Period verification is not a general functional inspection, nor is it a shortening of the verification and calibration cycle. Its purpose is to prevent the use of equipment that does not meet the technical specifications during the interval between two formal calibrations/verifications.

Intermediate checks refer to the checks conducted between two calibrations in order to maintain the credibility of the calibration status of the equipment, including interim checks of the equipment and interim checks of the reference standard. Together they are essentially equivalent to the operational inspection in ISO/IEC Guide 25 (1990).

This verification should be carried out in accordance with prescribed procedures. Periodic verification can enhance the confidence of the laboratory and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test data.

Purpose

In order to understand the status of the instrument, maintain the credibility of the calibration status of the instrument during the two calibrations, and reduce the result deviation caused by changes in instrument stability, it is necessary to In addition to checking the instruments before starting up and after shutting down, important testing equipment needs to be checked between two periodic verifications (calibrations). Ultimately, it meets the requirements of monitoring work and ensures the quality of monitoring results.

Understand whether the accuracy, accuracy and sensitivity of the instrument have changed, and also make a conclusion on the work done from the last calibration to this verification. If there is another problem with the instrument in the future, there is no need to verify this time. Pre-verification results.

Plan formulation

Not all instruments require periodic verification. Only instruments that are less stable or used more frequently are subject to periodic verification. Periodic verification should be carried out in accordance with regulations. . For instruments and equipment that require periodic verification, the instrument and equipment administrator shall prepare a periodic verification plan for the instrument and equipment.
