Working principle of infrared thermal imager

What is infrared?

In nature, any object with a temperature higher than absolute zero (-273℃) can radiate infrared rays, which together with visible light, ultraviolet rays, X rays, gamma rays, cosmic rays and radio waves form a complete and continuous electromagnetic spectrum. Its wavelength is between 0.78μm and 1000μm, which is invisible light with a longer wavelength than red light.

2. The working principle of infrared thermal imager

Infrared thermal imager converts infrared thermal radiation into corresponding electrical signals, and after amplification and video processing, it forms a video image observed by naked eyes. Generally speaking, it is to turn invisible infrared radiation into visible thermal image, reflecting the temperature distribution on the target surface.

3. Infrared thermal imaging tips:

1) thermogram reflects the infrared radiation distribution on the surface of an object, which depends on the spatial distribution of the emissivity and temperature of the object.

2) Different infrared thermal imagers from different manufacturers have different preset color palettes, which have different effects on image color processing.

3) The classic iron red palette is used in the picture on the left, with yellow representing the high temperature area and purple representing the low temperature area.
