Ding Xiaolong's Martial Arts Journey

Since his childhood, Bruce Ting has always been fond of martial arts, but due to his weak and sickly childhood, he did not have the opportunity to learn martial arts, and only conducted some informal training on his own. After his poor performance as a student, he was admitted to the International Bruce Lee Special Training Headquarters in 1997, where he began to receive systematic training in "Zhenfan - Jeet Kune Do" kung fu. Hao Gang, the school's principal, and Chen Qiping, the director of the school, because he had gone to the United States to study with Bruce Lee's personal disciples Inosanto and Kimura Moo-moto, thus becoming a direct disciple of Bruce Lee's master, they introduced the Jeet Kune Do into mainland China, and formulated the headquarters regulations: each qualified graduate of the coaching class of the students will be Hao Gang, principal of the school, will be issued by the graduation certificate and coaching certificate, and formally become a "Zhenfan - Jeet Kune Do The fourth generation of direct disciples", that is, "the fourth generation of Bruce Lee's kung fu masters".

Ding was best known for his nunchaku kung fu, and at that time, except for a coach named Liu Xinhua, Ding was as good as any of the other teachers and students; however, he was unable to reach the desired level due to years of injuries to his legs and knees in his other major course, Li San Kung Fu. The rest of the aspects were more average, basically belonging to the upper-middle level, with the weakest item being physical strength.

Like all his brothers and sisters, Ding Xiaolong was unable to penetrate the depths of his own martial arts. Because the only person who really understands the essence of Zhen Fan - Jeet Kune Do is Grandmaster Bruce Lee himself, and because this is a school of martial arts that Grandmaster Bruce Lee pioneered on his own terms, and because everything he had was not available to anyone else, no one in the realm of Jeet Kune Do could ever achieve his level of excellence. And for every practitioner of Jeet Kune Do, at best, he or she has only more or less comprehended a small part of it, and Bruce Ting was fortunate enough to comprehend a little bit of it. In the movie "Dragon Warrior" by Bruce Lee, there is a quote that says: It's like intuitively pointing your finger at the moon, and if you're slow then you can only see your finger, and you'll never be able to see the moon's light again! This quote actually fully describes Grandmaster Bruce Lee's philosophy of martial arts: the pursuit of the true self! He was hoping that all learners of Jeet Kune Do would be inspired to eventually find and even create a martial art that truly suited them, and never simply imitate it (unless it was a specific imitation competition or characterization). In other words, the most important aspect of Jeet Kune Do that Patriarch Bruce Lee wanted his successors to master was not the technique, but the method! It's just a shame that many people are just learning how Patriarch Bruce Lee held up his finger without understanding the true intent of his teachings ---- Viewing the Moon! I believe about this is also the last scene that Patriarch Bruce Lee, who is now far away in heaven, would like to see! Shooting Stephen Chow's movie "Kung Fu", Ding Xiaolong himself was until the day of the finalization of the executive director Yang Guowei to learn about their own selection process: "Kung Fu" crew had a secret preliminary selection of actors across the country, passing through Shanghai, Ding Xiaolong inadvertently met with the Hong Kong executive director of the pre-preparatory work at that time as a side of the Law Jianhua, director Law Jianhua returned to Hong Kong, will be all the work transferred to the executive director after the Yang Guowei, and to the Director Yang Guo Wei said, "(sic) Addy (director Yang Guo Wei's English name), if you finally decide to go to Shanghai to officially cast or shoot, remember to meet Bruce Ding, this person is very special!" So, as soon as director Yang arrived in Shanghai, he met with Bruce Ding and conducted the first round of formal interviews. A few days later, Bruce Ding was notified again and went to the Four Seasons Hotel in Shanghai for the final audition with Stephen Chow and Sammo Hung, and finally passed the audition and was cast in Kung Fu, playing the role of "Gold Medalist". (Bruce Ting, together with directors Yeung Kwok Wai and Law Kian Wah) The opportunity to act in "The Golden Soldier" in 2009 came from "The Lion's Roar", as Bruce Ting impressed Mr. Kenneth Gandhi, the Hong Kong production manager of the film, and was then fortunate enough to take part in the shootings of "The God of War Revisited", "The Golden Soldier", and "The Prequel to Ip Man", which Mr. Gandhi produced, and Mr. Gandhi was the first to give Bruce Ting a chance to play the main role in a Hong Kong film. Mr. Gandhi was the first person to give Bruce Ting the opportunity to play a leading role in a Hong Kong movie.
