By the end of this year, all medical waste from some 2,000 small dispensaries in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, is expected to be sent to a special destruction plant for treatment.

A program has been started throughout the city to collect a bit of trash that is mixed with domestic garbage by way of clinical handouts.

The program, authorities believe, will contain all of Taiyuan's medical waste that year.
