What if there are not enough makeshift hospitals?

At present, because the capacity of Shanghai’s makeshift hospitals can no longer keep up with the outbreak rate of new coronavirus infections, some infected people or close contacts have to be quarantined at home. However, due to the prevention and control policy, It’s all covered, so there are no detailed and standardized operational requirements for home isolation. Now that it is a fait accompli that some infected people are quarantined at home, we must strengthen the prevention and control measures for home quarantine. Otherwise, once the prevention and control measures are broken in a large area, the situation will be difficult to recover.

For all positive infected persons or close contacts, if they cannot be transferred for a while, I suggest:

1. Prevention and control personnel must go to the site where the infected person or close contact lives to check whether they are Meet the conditions for home quarantine. For example: whether the pipeline may transmit the virus, whether the infected person has a single room to live in isolation, whether the disposal of domestic waste is safe and controllable, and the infected person or close contacts are required to sign a legal commitment, and any violation will be at their own risk, etc.;

2. Necessary isolation safety measures must be informed to COVID-19-negative people living together.

1) Precautions for using the bathroom,

2) Precautions for infected people when eating,

3) In addition to bathing and defecation, infected people should not Allowed to leave their room,

4) Infected persons are not allowed to throw away any items at will,

5) Meals or drinks are delivered to the door of the infected person, and meals and drinks must be delivered in a non-contact manner ,

6) Infected persons or close contacts must be specially sealed and packaged to change clothes and put them into sterilized containers, such as cartons, plastic bags, etc.,

7) Infection Individuals must use chargers, computers, mobile phones and other commonly used items independently and are not allowed to use them with other people;

3. The neighborhood committee and epidemic prevention personnel in the area must have fixed personnel and services to connect with, such as: nucleic acid Testing, body temperature monitoring, dispensing, disinfection, garbage disposal, wastewater treatment measures, personnel monitoring, etc. Retired medical staff in the same community can be mobilized to serve as volunteers to participate in these tasks;

4. For some infected persons and close contacts who are not suitable for home isolation, it is recommended that each district use those who have already occupied the beds in the makeshift hospital, and Infected persons or close contacts who meet the conditions for home isolation are used to replace infected persons or close contacts who must be admitted to makeshift hospitals. This can temporarily meet the prevention and control requirements that all must be collected.

5. When an infected person or close contact has a handover process with the outside world (such as a person living alone), the regulations on non-contact handover items and disinfection must be strictly followed, and nucleic acid testing must also be done carefully. When it comes to safety precautions, there must be no omissions. For example: keep a distance, volunteers and epidemic prevention personnel must wear disinfectant protective clothing, etc.;

6. For infected persons or close contacts who are really difficult to transport out, the living conditions of the infected persons or close contacts should be referred to Depending on your physical condition, the epidemic prevention personnel will decide whether to go to the hospital for treatment or to be isolated in a makeshift hospital. However, we must not avoid going to the makeshift hospital just because of surmountable difficulties. If everyone has difficulties, the prevention and control measures will be ineffective.

7. Close contacts must be isolated in single rooms to minimize the possibility of producing positive cases. Safety measures must be taken for close contacts who are admitted to the hospital to be isolated separately or at home. The close contacts must not be infected, and there must be no chance that the close contacts may infect others. Infected people can share space in a large makeshift hospital, but close contacts must be isolated in different ways.
