After years of popularization, titanium and its alloys, as an excellent corrosion-resistant structural material, have been widely used in chemical production. At present, the application of titanium equipment has expanded from the original "soda ash and caustic soda industry" to chlorate, ammonium chloride, urea, organic synthesis, dyes, inorganic salts, pesticides, synthetic fibers, fertilizers, fine chemicals and other industries, and the types of equipment have also developed from small and single to large and diversified. The Ministry of Chemical Industry predicts that the amount of titanium used in the chemical industry will exceed 1500 tons. At present, the largest number of chemical titanium equipment in China is heat exchanger, followed by titanium anode and container. The investigation results show that titanium heat exchanger accounts for 56.66%, titanium anode accounts for 20.4 1%, titanium container accounts for 16.28%, and others account for 6.65%.
Chlor-alkali industry is the earliest and largest industry in which titanium is used in chemical industry. At present, there are nearly 200 chlor-alkali plants in China, and most of them use titanium anode electrolyzers and ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers to produce caustic soda, so titanium is widely used in equipment.
Soda soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate, is one of the basic chemical raw materials. The main methods of producing soda ash are natural alkali method, ammonia alkali method and combined alkali method with salt as raw material. No matter which process is adopted, the equipment will be strongly corroded by media such as sodium chloride and ammonium chloride. Titanium equipment has been widely used in soda ash industry abroad. Since 1965, titanium materials and titanium equipment have been used in Dalian chlor-alkali industry research institute, Shanghai Pudong chemical fertilizer plant, Dahua company alkali plant branch, Tianjin alkali plant, Honghe chemical plant, Hubei chemical plant, Qingdao alkali plant and three newly-built alkali plants.
Titanium is also widely used in inorganic chemicals, inorganic compounds, organic chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, dyes, fine chemicals and chemical reagents in the chemical industry.
