How to do export certification to Brazil

According to Decree 371 issued by Brazil, since July 1, 2011, household and related categories of electrical products (e.g. kettles, irons, vacuum cleaners, etc.) destined for Brazil must be subject to mandatory certification by INMETRO. Chapter III of the Decree establishes the mandatory certification of household appliances, and the testing of the products needs to be carried out in INMETRO-accredited laboratories, each of which has a designated range of products.

Currently, product certification in Brazil is categorized as either mandatory or voluntary. Products subject to mandatory certification include medical devices, circuit breakers, equipment for use in hazardous locations, household plugs and sockets, household switches, wires and cables and their components, and fluorescent lamp ballasts, etc. The above certifications must be carried out by an INMETRO-accredited certification body, and other certifications are not accepted.

There are few recognized overseas laboratories in Brazil, and most of the products need to be sent to a designated laboratory in Brazil for testing.
