Near End Crosstalk (NEXT)Near End Crosstalk Loss (NEXT) The signal coupling caused by electromagnetic induction of a transmitting pair on one side of a cable to other neighboring (receiving) pairs on the same side of a link, i.e., near end crosstalk.
Define the difference (dB) between the NEXT crosstalk value (dB) and the transmit signal that causes the crosstalk (reference value set to 0 dB) as the NEXT crosstalk loss. The larger the NEXT value the greater the near-end crosstalk loss.
Only the NEXT measured within 40 meters is called true. If the other end is farther than 40 information outlet, although it will produce a certain degree of crosstalk, but the tester may not be able to measure this crosstalk value. Therefore it is best to make NEXT measurements at both ends. Testers are equipped with features that make it possible to potentially measure the NEXT value at both ends on one segment of the link.
