Beijing Institute of Ophthalmology, Beijing Institute of Otorhinolaryngology, Beijing Institute of Diabetes and the main body of the hospital and known as "one hospital, three", become a set of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and international exchanges of five medical research consortium. Ophthalmology, otolaryngology for the Ministry of Education approved by the National Clinical Key Disciplines, allergy (nasal allergy) for the former National Health and Family Planning Commission approved by the National Clinical Key Specialties, Chinese ophthalmology for the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine approved by the State Key Disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The Beijing Academy of Ophthalmology and the Academy of Otorhinolaryngology of Capital Medical University are located in the hospital. The hospital has a WHO Collaborating Center for the Prevention of Blindness and a WHO Collaborating Center for the Prevention of Deafness, and is attached to the Beijing Tongren Eye Bank (a member of the International Association of Eye Banks).
Tongren Hospital now has 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 3 Beijing scholars, 1 Yangtze River Scholar, 11 experts enjoying the State Council's special governmental subsidies, and 12 experts who have been awarded national and Beijing outstanding contributions. As the fourth clinical medical school of Capital Medical University, the hospital undertakes important teaching tasks. The hospital has 28 degree programs, including 13 doctoral degree programs. There are 114 master's degree supervisors and 41 doctoral degree supervisors. It has 15 Beijing residency training bases.
Since the reform and opening up, the hospital*** has won 138 scientific and technological achievement awards at provincial and ministerial levels, including 8 at national level, and 253 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
