The tongue with reddish color with little or no moss, or with cracks, is mostly due to yin deficiency and fire in prolonged illness, or depletion of yin fluids in the late stage of heat illness. Fine pulse is mostly seen in yin deficiency and internal heat or blood deficiency. Therefore, a red tongue with little or no moss and a fine pulse, or a red tongue with no moss and a fine pulse, are all signs of a yin deficiency tongue and pulse.
