Types of polyethylene pipe joints

The types of PE pipe joints mainly include thermal welding joints, electric welding joints, mechanical joints and various derivative joints.

Hot melt connection is the most widely used connection method in polyethylene pipeline system. In the process of hot-melt connection, the end faces of two PE pipes are heated to a molten state, then quickly bonded under a certain pressure and cooled to form a whole. This connection mode has the advantages of high connection strength, good sealing and low cost. However, the technical requirements are high and professional hot-melt equipment is needed.

The electric welding joint heats the connection part between the pipe fitting and the pipeline through the electric heating wire embedded in the electric welding pipe fitting, so that the pipe fitting and the pipe fitting are melted and bonded together. The invention has the advantages of simple and quick operation and stable connection quality, and is especially suitable for parts which are not easy to melt, such as right-angle bends. But the cost is relatively high and power supply is needed.

Mechanical joints are connected to PE pipes through mechanical fasteners (such as bolts and clamps). This connection method is suitable for some special occasions, such as parts that need to be disassembled and repaired frequently. Mechanical joints are easy to install and do not need professional skills and equipment, but the connection strength and sealing are poor and easy to be loosened by external forces.

In practical application, in order to meet different engineering requirements, a variety of PE pipe connection methods, such as socket thermal welding joint and flange connection, have been derived. These connection methods have unique advantages in specific occasions, such as socket-type hot welding joint is suitable for the connection of large-diameter pipelines, and flange connection is convenient for the connection with metal pipelines and other materials.

To sum up, there are many connection modes of PE pipes, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, and the appropriate connection mode should be selected according to the specific engineering requirements and conditions. When selecting the connection mode, factors such as connection strength, tightness, cost and operation convenience should be considered comprehensively to ensure the safe, stable and efficient operation of the pipeline system.
