For a long time, urban waste has been mainly disposed of in landfills. According to calculations by relevant departments, Taiyuan City produces about 1.2 kilograms of various domestic waste per capita every day, and the city's total daily domestic waste production is about 2,300 tons. This waste has been processed by landfill methods for many years.
In 2000, the only three large-scale urban landfills in Taiyuan, Shanzhuangtou, Dongshan Xingou and Hexi Shele, had reached their capacity limit, and it was urgent to find new ways to deal with domestic waste.
Faced with the hidden danger that landfilling will pollute the environment, domestic and foreign countries have begun to try the method of incineration of garbage, and many cities in our country have also begun to build waste incineration power plants.
In June 2000, Taiyuan City began to prepare for the construction of a waste incineration power plant, and chose to build it on the former site of the brick factory in Xingou Village, Haozhuang Township, covering an area of ??91.67 acres.
In June 2004, Dongshan domestic waste incineration power plant was fully started. After trial operation, it was officially put into operation in January 2007. This is currently the largest waste incineration power generation device of its kind in my country.
After the waste-to-energy power plant is put into operation, it will "eat" about 1,000 tons of urban domestic waste every day, accounting for about 50% of the daily domestic waste, which greatly relieves the pressure of urban waste disposal. At the same time, Every ton of garbage burned can generate about 20 kilowatt-hours of electricity, or 100 million kilowatt-hours a year.
The flue gas generated during the incineration power generation process has been purified and filtered to meet the national emission standards and can be directly discharged into the atmosphere; the sewage generated is initially treated and discharged into the sewage treatment plant through a special sealed pipe for further treatment. Advanced treatment; the generated ash is buried in nearby mountain valleys and can be used as road cushion and construction materials in the future. In addition, the volume of incinerated garbage can be reduced to 10% to 25% of the original size, and the weight is only about 20% of the original size, which can greatly save increasingly tight land resources.
According to calculations, the cost of the entire Dongshan domestic waste incineration power plant project will be recovered within 10 years. According to the design, the Dongshan domestic waste incineration power plant can continuously recycle waste and generate electricity for 30 years without replacing equipment.
