The Zhongshan Station has been built for ten years since February 1989, and after many times of expansion, it is now taking shape, with 15 buildings of various kinds, with a floor area of 2,700 square meters, including office, dormitory, meteorological, scientific research and cultural, sports and recreational buildings, as well as power generation and garage, etc. The life on the station is complete, which can meet the working and living needs of the expedition members.
The station is well equipped for life and can meet the working and living needs of the expedition members. Every year, it can receive 60 summer researchers and 25 wintering researchers. The dormitory is equipped with multifunctional soft beds, sofas, writing desks, closets, etc. The temperature inside the dormitory is suitable and can be maintained at 16～20 degrees all year round. The full-automatic hot and cold water supply system on the station can meet the uninterrupted supply of hot and cold water to all water points throughout the year. The shower room guarantees to provide hot water with a temperature of not less than 40 degrees for the team members to take a bath at any time. The station has more than ten vehicles of various kinds, which can meet the needs of transportation, construction and scientific investigation. Among them, there are 3 large snowmobiles of PB240 made in Germany, which can be used for long-distance scientific investigation even in winter. The power station consists of 3 sets of 150 kW and 1 set of 30 kW diesel generators, which can ensure the continuous use of electricity in the station area for living, working and scientific research. The infirmary on the station is equipped with shadowless lamps, multi-functional operating table and other medical instruments, which can perform general minor surgical operations. The communication room is equipped with two sets of 1.6-kilowatt single-sideband transmitters and full-band receivers, as well as maritime satellite terminals, which not only satisfy the communication between Zhongshan Station and Beijing, but also can carry out worldwide text and picture transmission and telephone business. Like the Great Wall Station, Zhongshan Station is equipped with sewage and garbage disposal systems. In addition, the generators are equipped with smoke and noise reduction equipment, which can reduce the emissions from the generators and prevent pollution of the atmosphere to the greatest extent possible.
