Southern Medical University Nanfang Hospital is a set of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and preventive health care as one of the large-scale comprehensive three grade A hospital, the country's top 100 hospitals. It is the first affiliated hospital of Southern Medical University (former First Military Medical University) and the first clinical medical school. Founded in 1941, the hospital was transferred from the military to Guangdong Province in August 2004 along with the university.
