On August 11, 2014, IBM announced that it had acquired cloud security services provider Lighthouse (Lighthouse Security Group, LLC.) IBM did not release details of the acquisition.

On August 6, 2015, IBM announced that it would acquire Merge Healthcare, a provider of medical imaging and clinical systems, for $1 billion, merging it with its Watson Health division and integrating the data from Merge Healthcare's medical imaging management platform. Merge Healthcare will merge the company with its Watson Health division and integrate the data and images from Merge Healthcare's medical imaging management platform with the image analytics business of its Watson Computing platform.

On October 28, 2015, IBM announced that it had acquired The Weather Company's B2B data business, a deal that will solidify its presence in the Internet of Things.

January 21, 2016, IBM announced that it had acquired Ustream, a provider of live web video streaming services, to form a "cloud video services business." There were reports that the acquisition amounted to $130 million, but this amount was not confirmed by IBM.

On Feb. 19, 2016, IBM acquired health analytics company Truven for $2.6 billion.
