A touching story about the Tibetan Plateau road building soldiers!
In May 1984, the Xining-Germu section of Qinghai-Tibet Railway was officially opened to traffic. 60,000 railroad soldiers and tens of thousands of road construction employees worked hard and valiantly to put the "heavenly road" into operation. The "Heavenly Road" was built on the "Roof of the World", and the iron and steel dragon was led to the Kunlun Mountains. Now, the central government has decided to start the construction of the second phase of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway from Golmud to Lhasa, which will fundamentally improve the backward transportation condition of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and promote the economic development and social progress of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the century-old ambition will become a reality. In order to build the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, three expeditions were made to Qinghai in 1959, 1963 and 1974, in which 179 people sacrificed their lives and 633 people were injured. Due to Tibet's special geographical and natural environment and plateau, permafrost and other road construction technical problems remain to be solved, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Golmud-Lhasa section stopped construction.
