For the past seven years, BenQ has been allocating 4% of its turnover to R&D every year, and by the end of 2010, we will have invested an additional $100 million in R&D. We have four major R&D centers around the globe, and we have four major R&D centers in the world. Globally, we have four major R&D centers, including the San Diego R&D Center in California, the Forward-looking Technology Center in Hsinchu, Taiwan, the Digital Fashion R&D Center in Taipei, and the Software R&D Center in Suzhou, China, with more than 2,000 R&D staff. As of mid-2003, BenQ has been granted more than 1,026 patents, with another 1,300+ still in the review stage. Our group of companies, with their bright performance in display, communication products, computer peripherals and key component technologies, have become a strong support for BenQ's development of cyber-fashion products.
In the future, we will focus our R&D efforts on optics, communications and display technologies, with plans to develop 2ms response time displays that protect the eyesight and maximize picture quality. On the other hand, we are also working on cross-platform software that will allow BenQ to easily integrate with other manufacturers' products.
