What is an Accident?

Accident, in general, is an unforeseen circumstance that results in death, illness, injury, damage, or other loss.

Accidents are events that occur unanticipated and cause personal injury or property or economic loss.

Accidents are unforeseen events that occur in people's productive and living activities. Among the various definitions of accident, Berckhoff's (Berckhoff) definition is more famous.

Berckhoff argues that an accident is an event that occurs suddenly, against the will of man, in the course of an activity carried out by man (individually or collectively) for the purpose of realizing some intention, forcing the activity to stop temporarily or permanently, or forcing a temporary or permanent change in the previously existing state. The meaning of accident includes:

1. Accident is a kind of human production, life activities in the special events, any human production, life activities in the process of accidents may occur.

2. Accident is a kind of sudden occurrence, unexpected unexpected events. Because the causes of accidents are very complex, often including many accidental factors, and thus the occurrence of accidents has a random nature. Before an accident occurs, people can not accurately predict when, where and what kind of accident.

3. Accident is a kind of forced production, life activities temporarily or permanently stop the event. Accidents interrupt and terminate people's normal activities, will inevitably bring some form of impact on people's production and life. Therefore, the accident is an event against people's will, is an event that people do not want to happen.

Accident is a dynamic event, which begins with the radicalization of the danger, and to a series of causes events flow through the system in a certain logical order and the loss caused, that is, the accident is an unplanned event resulting in injury, death, occupational disease or equipment and facilities, such as property damage and other losses. Accidents are divided into production accidents and enterprise employee casualties. Production accident refers to the production and business activities (including activities related to production and business) in the process, the sudden occurrence of injury to personal safety and health or damage to equipment, facilities or cause economic loss, resulting in the original activities temporarily suspended or forever terminated accident.

The Provisions on the Reporting and Handling of Accidents Involving Injuries and Deaths of Enterprise Employees have been repealed by the Regulations on the Reporting and Investigation of Production Safety Accidents (Decree No. 493 of the State Council), which was published on April 9, 2007.

Equipment accidents refer to equipment officially put into operation, in the production process due to damage to equipment parts, components so that the production of sudden interruption or cause energy supply interruption, causing damage to equipment so that the production of interruption.
