Which welding methods need covered electrode?
The following welding methods require covered electrode: 1. SMAW: SMAW uses a metal bar called covered electrode to heat and melt the metal by electric arc to connect two metal parts together. 2. Metal inert gas shielded welding (MIG): Metal inert gas shielded welding requires the use of welding wire, which is a thin wire covered with metal and used to connect two or more metal parts. 3. argon arc welding (TIG): argon arc welding requires the use of an electrode called tungsten electrode. Because tungsten electrodes do not melt during welding, extra welding wires are needed to connect metal parts. 4. Brazing: Brazing uses a metal alloy called solder, which needs to be heated at the joint to make the solder melt and penetrate between the connectors, thus bonding them together.
