NOM mandatory certification of products is generally electrical and electronic products with a voltage of more than 24 volts AC or DC. The main areas of application are product safety, energy and thermal effects, installation, health and agriculture. The following products must be certified by the NOM to be allowed to enter the Mexican market:
--Electronic or electrical products for use in homes, offices and factories;
--Computerized local area network (LAN) equipment;
< p>--Lighting fixtures;--Tires, toys and school supplies;
--Medical equipment;
--Wired and wireless communication products, such as corded phones, cordless phones, etc.
--Products powered by electricity, propane, natural gas, or batteries.
The NOM voluntary certification is generally applicable to parts, such as conductors, fuses, lampholders and ballasts, for manufacturers and importers to use as a reference.
