Were you interviewing for senior management? Interviews where you can meet the CEO are either small scale foreign companies or senior management, I don't know how you are sure they are all happy with you?
There are two possibilities for discussing this:
1. choosing between two or more candidates
2. they don't see eye to eye with you
Generally interviews up to the GM level should have no competitors so the second is more likely!
