Provisions on Separate Collection of Medical Waste

Legal basis: "Measures for the Management of Medical Waste in Healthcare Institutions" Article 11 Healthcare institutions shall collect medical waste in a timely manner in accordance with the following requirements:

(1) According to the category of medical waste, the medical waste shall be placed in packages or containers that comply with the "Provisions on Standards and Warning Labels of Special Packages and Containers for Medical Waste";

(ii) Before containing medical waste, the packaging or containers of medical waste shall be carefully inspected to ensure that there are no breakages, leakages and other defects;

(iii) Infectious waste, pathological waste, injurious waste, medicinal waste and chemical waste shall not be collected in a mixed manner. A small amount of pharmaceutical waste can be mixed into infectious waste, but it should be indicated on the label;

(iv) the management of discarded narcotic, psychotropic, radioactive, toxic and other pharmaceuticals and their related wastes shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, administrative regulations and the relevant national regulations and standards;

(v) waste chemical reagents and disinfectants in batches of chemical wastes shall be handed over to specialized institutions for disposal ;

(vi) bulk of mercury-containing thermometers, sphygmomanometers and other medical instruments at the end of life, should be handed over to specialized institutions for disposal;

(vii) medical waste of pathogens in the culture medium, specimens, and strains of bacteria, viruses preservation of liquid and other highly hazardous wastes should be the first place in the generation of the location of the pressure steam sterilization or chemical disinfection, and then according to the infectious wastes collected for treatment;

< p>(viii) The infectious excreta generated by isolated patients with infectious diseases or suspected infectious diseases should be strictly disinfected in accordance with national regulations and meet the national emission standards before being discharged into the sewage treatment system;

(ix) Medical wastes generated by isolated patients with infectious diseases or suspected infectious diseases should be packed in double-layered packagings and sealed in a timely manner;

(x ) into the packaging or container of infectious waste, pathologic waste, injurious waste shall not be removed.
