A vulcanizing agent is added to this type of silicone system, and the silicone material is usually placed in the mold cavity of a hydraulic press for molding. Therefore, usually silicone can only be molded and cannot be processed by an injection molding machine. There is a type of liquid silicone that can be injection molded by an injection molding machine. Because the vulcanization speed is limited, the injection molding and vulcanization are completed together. This type of liquid silicone is liquid at room temperature. Although it is processed by an injection machine, it is not strictly injection molding. Therefore, it is safe to say that silicone cannot be injection molded. Silicone is a very environmentally friendly material and is widely used in adult products, medical supplies, food tableware, daily products and handicraft industries. However, the molded silicone vulcanization processing cycle is long, and after the silicone vulcanization is processed into products, the materials are difficult to recycle. It is precisely because of these shortcomings that the application expansion of silicone is limited. Thermoplastic elastomer TPE (mixed and modified based on SEBS) has a hardness and elasticity close to that of silicone, and its feel and environmental performance are comparable to silicone. More importantly, TPE elastomer materials can be directly and quickly injection molded or extruded, shortening the material processing cycle from minutes for vulcanized silicone to seconds. Moreover, TPE materials can be 100% recycled, and the material cost is equivalent to or slightly lower than silica gel.
