Samsung's wearable robot will be available by the end of the year to improve users' walking speeds

Samsung plans to launch in August wearable walking aid robot "GEMSHip" will be postponed to the end of the year. It is reported that the reason for the delay is that Samsung needs time to further improve the product completion, and comprehensively check the certification and marketing strategy. The product is expected to be launched in both Korea and the US by the end of this year.

GEMSHip is a wearable robot that Samsung debuted at CES 2019. This robot can be worn on the bone joints and can provide the wearer with more than 20 percent of walking strength when walking, and walking speed can be increased by 10 percent. This robot is also certified by the international standard ISO 13482 for guaranteed safety.

In addition, Samsung has expanded the use of assistive robots to include sports training and medical care. For example, the sports training aspect of cooperation with fitness specialized enterprises, allowing users to wear the robot movement, to achieve the effect of personal training (PT), medical treatment can be used for users to rehab. However, due to the current high cost, so for the time being can not be pushed to the mass market use, it is expected that Samsung will be launched for this high-priced marketing.

For now, Samsung may be committed to the North American market, where the wearable robot industry is large. The U.S. wearable robot market has grown 21% per year since 2016, making it the largest wearable robot market in the world today.
