Completely rely on the defensive end of the huge deterrent in the NBA foothold of defensive center, advantage: 18 years of experience in the NBA veterans, the use of height and arm length, jamming technology to compete for rebounds, judging the timing of the cap no one can. Weaknesses: with the age of growth, body confrontation and speed is not as big as before, the means of offense is relatively single. Now the Houston Rockets play an important role as a substitute.[edit]Offense
Comprehensive ability C?Because of their own body muscle type and shooting touch, the role in the offensive end and the 90s four major centers (Dream Olajuwon, Admiral Robinson, Gorilla Ewing, Shark O'Neal, some people also add Iron Man Mourning to the list, known as the five major centers). There is not a small gap. The main means of attack is the interior of the powerful dunk, second offense and hook shot. Basically no independent scoring ability, almost no threat outside the opponent's penalty area, which is the fundamental reason why he has not been able to reach the height of the top 4 centers. Contributed 9.7 points & 10.3 rebounds per game for his career.[Edit]Defense
Comprehensive ability S?The first year into the league with a smashing average of 12.3 rebounds and 2.96 caps to give the Nuggets fans a surprise, careful fans found his body compared to the traditional center is slightly thin, but the arm span of the super-long, but also the speed of the bullet is not bad, relying on the absolute advantage of these two he can easily intercept the other side of the small players passing and shooting. and shooting. Career four times the best defensive player (1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001) three times in the NBA best defensive lineup first team (1997, 1998 and 2001), three times in the NBA best defensive lineup second team (1995, 1999 and 2002) defensive merit is visible. Mutombo's elbow is also one of his heavy weapons, not in the critical moment will not be easy to use, in his career so far, 25 players have the honor of its elbow close contact, which the most serious two is the 2001 hit Vince Carter head, Carter missed six Eastern Conference playoffs; 2004 hit LeBron James face, James was sent to the hospital on the spot. In 2006, fellow teammate Tracy McGrady had the misfortune of being hit by Uncle Mu's elbow, resulting in a mild concussion for Maddie. All that can be said is that Uncle Mu's on-court intimidation is still alive and well.[Edit]Position
Center, because of his strengths and weaknesses are equally obvious, center is the only role he can play is also fully competent, in this position as long as he gives him enough playing time averaging double-double for him as easy as a slap in the face. At the Rockets, even at 40 years of age, his rebounding and cap efficiency are among the best in the league.[edit]Player Experience

In the first round of the 1993-94 playoffs, the Denver Nuggets played the Seattle Supersonics, who finished first in the league in the regular season and for whom the odds of winning were very slim. The Supersonics had a 63-19 regular season record, the best in franchise history, while the Nuggets had a mediocre 42-40 regular season record and barely made the playoffs. The Supersonics took the first two games of the five-game, three-game elimination tournament without much effort, and it looks like they'll likely shut out the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, demoralized by the removal of their mental baggage, outscored their opponents 110-93 in Game 3, and then beat the Supersonics 94-85 in overtime in Game 4, leaving the teams tied at 2-2 and having to go back to Seattle for a decisive fifth game. Although the Seattleites made a full-court press in Game 5, it didn't keep the Nuggets busy, as the latter played like an experienced veteran team, committing only 11 turnovers in the game. With the Nuggets intentionally slowing down the pace of the game on the offensive end, Mutombo dominated the interior defense, and the Nuggets ultimately beat the Supersonics 98-94 in overtime, eliminating their rivals from the tournament 3-2. When the final whistle blew, Mutombo grabbed the last rebound and lay down on the court, his face overflowing with victory, while his teammates pounced on him to celebrate. It was the first great Black 8 Miracle, and even though the Nuggets went 3-4 against the Utah Jazz in the ensuing second round, pulling off the upset of the top seed with the No. 8 seed in the playoffs was enough to make their trip to this postseason a piece of NBA lore.[edit]Regular season? Philanthropy:A recognized humanitarian, Mutombo established the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation in 1997 to help raise the standard of living for the people of his native Zaire, now known as the Democratic **** and State of Congo. What he did earned him a humanitarian award from the NBA in 2001. That same year, he broke ground on a hospital in his hometown of Kinshasa, and in early 2004, the first medical facility in Kinshasa in forty years was finally completed. He himself donated $3.5 million to the hospital's construction. Cold Facts: Mutombo doesn't know his exact birth date, and he made it up after he left for the U.S. After a successful cover, Mutombo usually shakes his index finger at the player who is being covered. Mutombo is fluent in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Lingala, Chiluba, and several African dialects.? Mutombo was also named to the 2002 NBA All-Interview Team. As a rookie with the Nuggets, Mutombo asked Jordan if he could shoot free throws with his eyes closed. Jordan closed his eyes and scored, and then told Mutombo, "Welcome to the NBA". In the 1997 NBA playoffs, Mutombo claimed that Jordan had never dunked over his head. Jordan then managed to dunk on the game and mimicked his most famous finger-wagging maneuver on Mutombo. The result was a technical foul that the NBA deemed insulting to the opposing player.? On January 11, 2007, the Rockets beat the Lakers 102-77 at home. Mutombo made his debut in the game, going on the court for 34 minutes and 14 seconds, picking up 19 rebounds and delivering five blocks, thus bringing his total number of individual caps to 3,191, surpassing Jabbar's 3,189 to become the second in NBA history. March 04, 2007 Mutombo in the game against the Nuggets in the game contributed 22 rebounds, becoming the NBA history of the first over forty years old, and in a game to grab more than 20 rebounds athlete.? On March 27, 2008, at halftime of the Houston Rockets game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Rockets held a celebration for Mutombo in recognition of his contributions to the NBA. On January 20, 2009, he was invited to the inauguration of President Barack Obama, and he was the only NBA player to be invited to President Obama's inauguration.[edit]Uncle's age
About Mutombo's age. I'm afraid the most famous is that story of chopping down the woods which was once laughingly rumored to be the only way to find out Uncle's true age. Born into a backward tribe in the Congo, Mutombo doesn't know how old he is - even when he was really young - because they don't keep track of his age or his birthday. There is a custom in his homeland, though, where people cut down a tree for every year of their lives. It is said that when Mutombo was brought in by the University of George in the United States in 1987, the small grove of trees near his home had long since been cut down by him.[Edit paragraph] Africa's big mountains hurt goodbye
Mutombo born in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), is a legend of the NBA league, his 2.18-meter height in most cases as much as possible "a glimpse of the mountains", with the age of 43 years old is still running across the NBA, but also no one can be expected to look at the back of their own. Fans affectionately called him "Uncle Mu", even with his teammate Yao Ming in the Rockets, also so called this inside the good helper. However, the second game of the NBA playoffs between the Rockets and the Trail Blazers became the farewell performance of "Uncle Mu". During the game, "Uncle Mu" was hit by Oden, who is almost half his age, and fell to the ground. After the game, crutches Mutombo was surrounded by reporters, he solemnly announced to end his 18-year career: "Yes, I had to say goodbye to basketball. My injuries are very bad and I need surgery." "Uncle Mu has always been synonymous with strength and courage, but his words at that moment were very sad: "When I fell down with my injured knee, I cried a lot." Mutombo's exit due to injury is a huge loss for the Rockets, who are trying to make it out of the first round of the playoffs. Inside is the biggest advantage of the Rockets compared to the Blazers, and without "Uncle Mu", Yao Ming has become the only real center left in the Rockets, and the comparison of the inside situation has taken a sharp turn for the worse. From the first game of the playoffs, "Uncle Mu" played 18 minutes, contributed 9 rebounds and 2 caps, he not only played well as Yao Ming's replacement, but also completed his NBA career with a perfect performance of the 100th playoff game. In the minds of his teammates, Mutombo is a "lynchpin"; and in the view of Adelman, the head coach of the Rockets, he is the "ace" of the Rockets' campaign for the playoffs. Despite his age and sometimes low scores on the court, "Uncle Mu's" defensive experience and awareness puts the coaching staff at ease, and whenever he takes the court, all the fans will applaud his wonderful performance. 40-something years old "Uncle Mu" is still a "happy man". "The company's main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers," he said, adding that the company has been working on a number of projects in the past few years. Without Mutombo, the Rockets may have Landry and Scola to rely on in the interior, coupled with the back of the home advantage, the hope of rushing out of the first round of the playoffs is still very large. But Adelman heart is no longer solid, because once Yao Ming appeared too many fouls and so on, he made the initiative to adjust the choice of a lot less. In fact, Mutombo's withdrawal due to injury is also the loss of the NBA league. As "Uncle Mu" said after the injury: "Thank God for giving me 18 years of career, let me do so many great things on the basketball court, affecting a lot of young people. They still look up to me and say I'm their role model." Mutombo's role modeling is also evident in his selfless donations to charity. The "African mountain" has never forgotten his impoverished hometown, has been for his hometown to invest in the founding of a modern charity hospital, and finally in his personal (19 million U.S. dollars) and some of the NBA stars **** donated 29 million U.S. dollars, two years ago in his mother's name, Biyamba - Mary -Mutombo Hospital opened. He explained his good deed with this African proverb: "When you go up in an elevator, never forget to put it down." It's a slightly puzzling statement, but when you think about it, that's what charity is all about - not standing by when you have the means to give back to the community. Although the knee injury ended the NBA career of "Uncle Mu", although he may not be able to see him gallop on the court, but in the minds of the fans, "Africa" will not fall, he was a legend.
